Tanuf Mountain Camp
We camp at around 1,000m, in complete privacy, with views towards Oman's highest peak, Jebel Shams. Situated amongst some of Oman's most dramatic mountain scenery, this is a great base from which to explore the area. There are a host of activities on offer around the camp; walks for geology and flora enthusiasts, visits to traditional mountain villages and an opportunity to meet local people and gain an insight into the local way of life. At night, the stars are extraordinary and there is plenty of scope for keen amateur astronomers.
Further afield, there is plenty on offer and the camp makes a perfect base for exploring one of the most varied and interesting areas of northern Oman. Only 2.5 hours from Muscat, 25 minutes from the old capital town of Nizwa and 15 minutes from the ancient town of Bahla, the camp is also directly accessible to Wadi Bani Awf, one of Oman's greatest off road drives. We are also close to Al Hoota Caves and a host of spectacular mountain villages, date plantations, forts, castles and of course the souk in Nizwa. As with the Wahiba Camp, to help you make your minds up, we have a collection of our own informative and up to date guides of things to do and see in the area.
